Spelling Bee

Victory!!!!! I’m sure you all remember last year’s spelling bee… how could you forget ?

A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Hey everybody! My class has recently started a Language Arts mini-unit on Shakespeare, like we did last year, but this time focusing on A Midsummer Night’s Dream. We’re going to be performing certain scenes, and we went and saw the actual play yesterday at the Shakespeare Tavern. It was really good! One scene made me laugh so hard I cried! Seriously, it was hilarious! It was the play-within-a-play scene, with Bottom, Quince, and the others.  I literally laughed until I was CRYING! The actors were absolutely perfect! Bottom was self-indulgent and vain, the guy who played Thisby was deep voiced and un-dramatic as possible, they never responded to their cues, and the wall… Oh my goshness the wall. He… was… PERFECT!!!!! The “chinks” in the wall, the erratic movements, the insane singing, he really was perfect. It was hilarious! Ahhhhhh, good times!

A lot of exciting things happened, some good, some not so good. But mainly good! Thank goodness. =) I got to spend time on both sides of the country, getting used to the eastern side. I missed you guys, but Georgia’s growing on me. Ups and downs, but it all turned out all right!I’m looking forward to a year filled with happiness and joy! We’re going back to Georgie tomorrow, but I’ve had a great time seeing everyone again. You guys rock!

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!!!!!

I am so happy right now! All this weekend since 6:00 Saturday morning I’ve been up in Cummings (wherever that is) at a soccer tournament. This was my first soccer tournament ever and it was AMAZING! Our first game was at 8:00 saturday morning meaning we had to be there by 7:15, meaning I had to wake up at 6:00. It was really cold. Special thank you to Coach Jane for training me to play in the cold. So helpful this weekend! I played goalie every game this weekend, 4 in total. The first game we tied 0-0, not for lack of trying. But that was kind of nerve-wracking because in order to make it to the championships we had to win all three of our games (not counting the championships). If we won our other two, and they won their other two, whoever got more goals total out of all three games went on. Does that make sense? Anyhoo, after that we won our second game 5-1, and that was it for Saturday. Then a bunch of the girls from my team went to our coach’s daughter’s cabin to spend the night. It was so fun. I loved it. Then in the morning we tied our 3rd game so we were really scared that we wouldn’t make it to championships. Don’t ask me how, but we did. Yay!!! But then I was super terrified because we had been practicing penalty kicks between games because if we tied at the end of the championship game, we would go into penalty kicks, meaning the other team would be really close to the goal, trying to kick it in from a certain point, and all that stands between them and the goal is the goalie, otherwise known as yours truly… =( I was terrified! And of course we did tie, 1-1, but they were insanely good! They shot on me so many times… (I was goalie the entire game) We shot on them too. It was really stressful on the penalty kicks. I let two on, blocked two, and one just went completely out. The other goalie blocked two, let two in, and on the very last shot… LET IT IN!!!!!!!!!! WE WON!!!!!!!!  I was immediately caught up in a giant mob of my screaming teammates, all of us yelling and hugging each other. It was so awesome! I had so much fun. Everyone was congratulating me and hugging me, and we got trophies, I was in heaven! I was so happy my cheeks were hurting from all the smiles! I had soooooo much fun. That was completely awesome for my first tournament ever. Walking away… THE CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!!! Woo hoo! GO DOUBLE SHOT FRAPPUCCINOS!!!!!!!!

The Victorious Double Shot Frappuccinos!

Birthday Party!

Hey hey hey! Sorry I haven’t checked in for a while, I’ve been busy. Anyhoo, my birthday party is today, and I am PSYCHED! It’s a roller skating party, which I know is no big deal in Washington but there are barely any rinks in Georgia so this is pretty unusual. I invited all the girls in my class, and 8 out of 11 are coming, so it’s pretty good. We rented a big van to drive everybody out there because the rink is in Smyrna, like a 45 minute drive from school, which is our meeting place. It’s gonna be a “Cosmic Glow Party because they have just turned the former VIP lounge into a Glow area, specially for me! (Or at least I like to think so =D) I think it’s gonna be great! Check back with you after the party!

Here in Cali!

Hey everybody! It’s spring break for my school so we decided to go on vacation! (we being my family) I am currently typing on my dad’s computer in a small little house with a beautiful view on a extremely windy day in Bodega Bay in California. Whew! So anyway, we’ve been here for three days with my grandma and ama. It’s been super fun getting to see them again! We recently got back from building a (pretty lame) fort on the beach. It was pretty windy and cold, but fun never the less. I hadn’t realized how much I had missed the beach!

Our house is awesome. It has one story, and is pretty small, but it has a awesome hot tub! And it’s literally right next to a golf course! And I mean literally… we have a gate onto it! It has an amazing view of the ocean, very good for taking pictures. And I’ve been taking pictures. See, my grandma’s a photographer, and so I’ve been showing her some of my pictures. She actually likes them. I’m pretty happy.

The day after tomorrow we’re gonna go to San Fran, and I’m super excited! I love San Fransisco! There’s so much fun stuff to do! There’s Chinatown, the Exploratorium, cable cars, the Japanese Tea Gardens, the Golden Gate Bridge, etc., etc. When we’re there we’re going to stay in a hotel, which is OK with me, as long as they have a pool! I love California!

Next round of spelling bee!!

Okay, so on Thursday I missed a day of school. Why, you may ask? Because it was the next round of the SPELLING BEE!!!!! I was so excited and nervous at the same time. I mean this was a 4th-8th competition! I was one of the youngest there! It was pretty scary. But I think having done dance competitions before actually helped me, because I was used to the new place, new

people, and stuff like that. It was actually pretty fun. I was there with another boy from my school, Josh. He’s in 4th grade. There were 114 words total, four practice words, 100 actual competition words, and 10 tiebreaker words, in case two people tied. Some were hard, and some were easy. I didn’t really think I was gonna make it, ’cause I thought I missed a lot. But guess what..

… I DID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOO HOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM SO HAPPY AND PROUD!!!!  I was like the youngest kid up there! It was an amazing felling. Josh didn’t make though. But I DID!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAH! I was the 2nd person from Cliff Valley ever to make it this far. I am so proud of myself!!!!! But also really nervous for the next round. It’s probably gonna be really hard. Yipes! Then on Friday Michael made an announcement at assembly about how I made it through and I felt really proud. Joy!
